As one reviewer points out, these brushes don't have a big well, so you can't pick up a lot at any one time. For shellac, that turns out to be a blessing in disguise:
1. The brushes are super easy to clean.
a) They're so light you can set them in a tin of alcohol for the short time it takes to remove the shellac, without having to worry about making sure they aren't resting on the bottom.
b) A few swishes in the alcohol, and the shellac is gone. A quick rinse with warm soapy water to be sure, and the brush is good to go for the next day.
2. With a shallow reservoir, you never pick up more than you can put down. So the shellac doesn't harden in the well, making the brush heavy and next to useless.
3. Because shellac needs to be spread out and tipped off fairly quickly, the small reservoir means that you *don't* pick up more than you work, while it's wet. (With other brushes, the wet area you're working into can tend to dry out before you get to the end of your brushful, making it difficult to achieve a consistent finish.)
I don't what else these brushes are good for, but they are miraculous for shellac. My eternal thanks to the YouTuber who pointed me to them! (If I stumble across them again, I'll mention them here!)
