CTFE (Chlorotrifluoroethylene)is a colorless, odorless and toxic gas under ordinary temperature. When becoming liquid, it is clear. The chemical is highly reactive and flammable. It is mainly used to produce fluoro-rubber, fluoro-ethers, chlorofluoro-oils, fluorinated anaesthetics for animals and pesticides intermediate.

Chlorotrifluoro Ethylene (CTFE, R, CFC , Trifluorochloroethylene) is the organic compound with the formula CF2CFCl. The CTFE is colorless gas at normal temperature and poisonous, and the liquefied CTFE is colorless and transparent. It has extremely unstable chemical properties and is combustible. It is mainly applied to fluoroelastomer, fluorine paintings, chlorofluorocarbon oil, isoflurane, anesthetics for animals, pesticide intermediates, etc.
Chlorotrifluoroethylene is produced commercially by the dechlorination of 1,1,2-trichloro-1,2,2-trifluoroethane with zincin methanol. In , an estimated 1-10 million pounds were produced commercially in the United States.
Chlorotrifluoroethylene (CTFE) is commonly used as a refrigerant in cryogenic applications. CTFE has a carbon-carbon double bond and so can be polymerized to form polychlorotrifluoroethylene or copolymerized to produce the plastic ECTFE. PCTFE has the trade name Neoflon PCTFE from Daikin Industries in Japan, and used to be produced under the trade name Kel-F from 3M Corporation in Minnesota.

1. Store in a cool, well-ventilated area of low fire risk and out of direct sunlight.
2. Cylinders should be stored upright and firmly secured to prevent falling or being knocked over. Valve protection caps and valve cutlet threaded plugs must remain in place unless container is secured with valve outlet piped to use point. Do not drag, slide or roll cylinders.
3. Separate full containers from empty containers.
4. Avoid area where salt or other corrosive materials are present.
5.Avoid excessive inventory and storage time.
