If HPMC with a viscosity of more than 100,000 wants to significantly increase the water retention rate, it is necessary to increase the amount of HPMC added.

In the detailed construction, the water retention effect of the slurry can be adjusted by increasing or decreasing the amount of HPMC. The HPMC series products can effectively deal with water retention problems at high temperatures. In high temperature seasons, especially in hot and dry areas and thin-layer construction on the sunny side, high-quality hydroxypropyl methylcellulose is required to improve the water retention of the slurry.

The high-quality HPMC has very good uniformity. Its methoxy and hydroxypropoxy groups are evenly distributed along the cellulose molecular chain. It can improve the oxygen atoms on the hydroxyl and ether bonds. The ability of water to associate to form a hydrogen bond turns free water into bound water, and then effectively manipulates the transpiration of water caused by high temperature climate to achieve high water retention.

High-quality HPMC can be uniformly and usefully dispersed in cement mortar and gypsum-based products, and wrap all solid particles, and form a layer of moist film. The moisture in the base is gradually released over a suitable period of time. It has a hydration reaction with inorganic cementing materials, and then ensures the bonding strength and compressive strength of the materials. Therefore, in high temperature summer construction, in order to achieve water retention, it is necessary to add high-quality hydroxypropyl methylcellulose products in sufficient quantities according to the formula. Otherwise, it will be too dry and cause insufficient hydration, decrease in strength, and cracking Quality problems such as, hollowing and falling also increase the difficulty of construction by workers. As the temperature drops, the added amount of HPMC can be gradually reduced, and the same water retention effect can be achieved.
